Come join us for an evening of fun while we watch the hilarious movie “Sideways”. Pizza, popcorn, and some beautiful red wines, including, of course, our fabulous Merlot!
We will be serving our wines, particularly Merlot, while screening the movie Sideways. This is a wonderfully funny movie from 2004 that had a surprisingly large impact on the Merlot and Pinot Noir markets. Merlot was a very popular varietal, second only to Cabernet Sauvignon in the red wine market. After Sideways was released, due to one of the characters’ very famous lines, which you’ll see in the movie, Merlot plantings over the next 10 years declined by 35% while Pinot Noir plantings increased by 170%. This was also the fuel for the growth of the Central Coast wine industry.
Fortunately, our love of Merlot was undeterred by Sideways and the anti-Merlot sentiment it created. Robert Parker said in 2007 that we make the best Merlot in Northern California. We’d like to think we still do.
We will be serving pizza to pair with the wine. The cost is $25 per person for members and $50 per person for non-members.
Tickets are limited. The movie will be shown outside, so dress warmly and consider bringing a blanket.
The event starts at 7:30 pm, movie starts at 8:30 pm and runs for 2 hours 6 minutes.
